Roughly 50 automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Automobiles, walls and mailboxes were marked, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they reported in a release.
Officers state they were contacted during the night on Wednesday night, when a man observed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued fluid.
The liquid had been placed in the shape of a banned symbol, they reported.
Police then found numerous other vandalized vehicles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation banning the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials say early analysis show the fluid was most likely human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no clue as to its source; authorities are not yet informed of any physical harm in relation with the event," they stated.
City officials stated they were working "to resolve the case" and have requested to the public for details.
An important representative stated the incident rendered him stunned and required to be resolved quickly.
"This incident strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the far-right attack five years ago," he posted on a platform, referring to the murder of nine victims by a assailant focusing on individuals of foreign heritage in five years prior.
